Trademark Registration Flow
1. Trademark Search
Conduct free trademark search on IPO online search system and give advice on trademark registration.
2. Consignment Acceptance
Sign trademark application consignment agreement, payment from the applicants.
3. Trademark Application Preparation
Prepare trademark application.
4. Application Submission
Submit application to IPO after confirmation.
5. Publication for Opposition
3 months of publication after the application was submitted.
6. Opposition
If there is any objection against the trademark registration. It will be postponed for another 3 months.
7. Registration
If there is no objection, a certificate will be issued for the registration after about one month.
Time to Take
It will normally take as short as 6 months (from the day the application is received by Hong Kong IPO)to become registered for application with complete documents and the documents are prepared in correct ways and without opposition against the mark.
Period of Validity
A registered trademark is protected for a period of 10 years, retroactive to the date on which application for registration was received by the IPO.
Renewal upon Expiration
If the registrant intends to continue to use the registered trademark beyond the expiration of the period of validity, an application for renewal of the registration shall be made within six months before the said expiration. Where no such application could be filed within the said period, an extension period of six months may be allowed. If no application is filed by the expiration of the extension period, the registered trademark will be canceled. A renewal is valid for 10 years.
Trademark Modification & Transfer
The longer a registered trademark had been used, the greater value it may had, company may have to change or transfer their valuable trademark due to certain reason.

3. Business certificate of the transferee ,other supporting materials or specified materials
